Mobile Services
The Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center was awarded a Cheyenne County Hansen Community Grant of $5,000 in 2020.
Early on, when we were first established in 2004, we knew that the services to rural Kansas victims had to be delivered to their own community. We did not want the burden of travel to keep children from getting the help they needed heal. Additionally, we knew that small Law Enforcement departments had limited personnel and travel out of county caused problems. This was the genesis of the WKCAC Mobil concept for delivering services. The Mobile CAC has high tech recording equipment for interviewing the victim while allowing local Law Enforcement to view and participate in the interview process. The Mobile CAC also has a child friendly family room where our Advocates work with the child victim and their family. We do not stop there, we follow up with trauma focused therapy again via a Mobile Therapy Unit. Healing from abuse is a long term process and WKCAC is committed for as long as our children and families need our services. Our approximate cost to provide the services that each child abuse victim needs to heal is $2,000, which does not include the cost of long term therapy. The WKCAC staff works year around to raise the funds to ensure that these services are always provided free of charge. Our grant request is for fuel, supplies and maintenance for the two Mobile Units that travels to your area.
