Cheyenne County Village
The Cheyenne County Village was awarded a Cheyenne County Community Fund Grant of $18,354.54 in 2019.
With the Good Samaritan lease expiring this year for the nursing facility and apartments, the Cheyenne County commissioners solicited proposals to nonprofit organizations in Kansas seeking their interest in leasing the buildings. Upon review of the proposals, the county voted to authorize the formation of a new nonprofit 501 c3 corporation with local board members. At the same time, the commissioners voted to hire SunPorch, a 501 c3 senior living organization based in Topeka to work with the new corporation to manage the nursing home and assisted living programs. The new corporation being formed will be named Cheyenne County Village (CCV). CCV will lease the buildings from the county. CCV is seeking grant funds to pay for the equipment for the the nursing home, apartments and new assisted living apartments.
Grant funds will be used to help cover the startup costs to of a new charitable organization to operate both facilities. We are asking for up to $100,000 from CCKCF in addition to seeking funds from Bird City Century II Development Foundation, Dane G. Hansen Foundation and other foundations and organizations.
