Cheylin (USD 103) Playground Improvement
The Cheylin School District (USD103) was awarded a Cheyenne County Hansen Community Grant of $14,000 in 2019.
After evaluating the needs of our schools playground, we have realized that we need to work at creating a safer play area, update old equipment, and assess elevation and drainage problems that exist around our buildings. This project began with researching solutions of what it would take to complete this project from start to finish. One main focus is our students safety and with plans of new playground equipment and sports courts it is important that we keep the kids contained in a safe playing area away from harm/danger.
At this time our playground has a partial 4 ft. chain-link fence on the south end that does not enclose our play area and it is adjacent to a public street as well as perpendicular to a driveway that the food trucks and trash trucks access, therefore allowing children access to the street/driveway should they for example run after a ball. We are looking to replace the chain-link fence and install new perimeter fencing on the east and south sides of our play area with an access gate which will insure our children a safer place to play.
